BLC Stay Up – Friday 3rd December 2021

Dear Families,

BLC Stay Up – Friday 3rd December 2021

The ‘BLC Stay Up’ is part of our school camp experiences at St Michael’s.

What is a ‘stay up’? We are excited to let you know that next Friday the 3rd of December the BLC students are invited to attend a stay up event at the school. The children will participate in a regular school day. Once the school day ends, the BLC students will remain at school.

The afternoon event will feature:

  • PJ theme (That’s right! We are having a pyjamas party! Please pack PJ’s and a soft toy or small pillow)
  • Board Games and play
  • Mini disco
  • Movie night with popcorn and drinks supplies
  • Pizza feast

Please collect your child from the BLC classrooms at 6:00 p.m.

We are looking forward to spending quality time together as the year comes to an end.

Please email us if your child has any special dietary requirements.

Thank you for your support.

Dear families,

Christmas Lunch and Colour Run – Tuesday 7th December 2021

This year, we plan to hold our School Christmas Lunch a little differently than we did pre-COVID.  This year we will be celebrating in Learning Community groups to enjoy our chicken, chips, salad, drink and ice-cream lunch.   In order to distance ourselves, we will be utilising large indoor and outdoor areas of the school to dine or picnic.

This lunch is provided by the school and will be served in individual portions to children.  If your child has dietary restrictions which we are not aware of, please communicate this with your child’s teacher.

Following lunch, our students will get to enjoy our annual water fun afternoon, together with the colour run.

Children can come to school in Christmas themed clothing, as classes will be involved in many Christmas activities throughout the day.

After lunch (2pm) students will have the chance to be involved in a wide variety of water and dry games.  Just before 3pm we will begin the colour run, which will follow a course through the school ground.

The colour run powder works best on white clothes and so we invite children to bring a white t-shirt to school to use during the colour run.  We will give students time to change into their white shirts before the water activities.  The colour run powder is non-toxic and can be removed with laundering.

As children end up very messy, we suggest that, if you are collecting your child from school on that Tuesday, you pack a large garbage bag for your child to wear over their clothes in the car.  Towels for the car seat are also a good idea.  Alternatively, you are welcome to use the Bukatila changerooms for your child to change before heading home.

If your child is travelling by bus, they may wish to pack clean clothes to change into after the colour run.

Participation in the colour run is optional.  Children who do not want to be involved will be able to watch from a central position.

Parents are welcome to attend this event from 2pm, being mindful of COVID safe practices and ensuring that you sign in.  We will have a sign in sheet available at the oval.  Visitors are reminded that masks should be worn if physical distancing is not possible.

If you have questions about the day, please talk to your child’s teacher or contact the front office

South Aussie with Cosi – Thursday 4th November

This coming Thursday we will be visited by the TV production ‘South Aussie with Cosi’.  Cosi and his crew will be filming at St Michael’s as part of his school specials.  Throughout the morning Cosi will be interacting with students across the school both in class and outside.

The segment will air on television in December and we will advise families of this date when we know it.

While we already know that a small number of our children do not have permission to be photographed, we ask that you contact your child’s teacher if you have previously provided photography permission, but do not want your child involved in this experience.

Thank you

Grandparents and Special Friends – We need your help!

Grandparents and Special Friends Day is not going ahead this year, but that does not mean that we are not thinking of them.  We are hoping to have all of our students write a letter to a Grandparent or Special Friend in the coming weeks.  We would love to send the letters through the mail, so we need your help!

Please provide the postal address of a Grandparent or Special Friend to your child’s teacher, either by email or a note. We hope to write our letters in the middle of November, so if we can have an address by November 15th, that would be appreciated.

Thank you

Swimming on Friday

Hello BLC swimmers,

The pool has asked all swimmers to bring a set of clothes that they could swim in at the pool on Friday. The lesson on Friday, 24th September is meant to help the students be more comfortable swimming in actual clothes. This would help them in an emergency situation. They will wear their bathers under these clothes.

Also, a blue and white Ripcurl towel with the name Puiatti has gone missing. If it accidently made it to your home, please send it to the office and we’ll reunite it with its owner.

Thank you!
